Claudia Witt-Thomas graduated in 2008 from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and certifications in both Chemistry and Biology.  She continued her education with a Master’s degree in Applied Science Education from Michigan Tech in 2014.  She started working at Loy Norrix High School in 2008 and has continued to add to her teaching career at KAMSC in 2020.  At Loy Norrix, Mrs. Thomas taught Biology, Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Environmental Science.  She also helped with Science Olympiad and wore several coaching hats during her time there.  While at Norrix, Mrs. Thomas was nominated for an Excellence in Education Award and served on the Heyl Selection Committee for three years.

Mrs. Thomas participated in MiTEP (Michigan Teacher Excellence Program) through her master’s degree at Michigan Tech and had the opportunity to study for several weeks in the Upper Peninsula both on campus at Michigan Tech and through a National Parks internship at Pictured Rocks.  Her degree also took her out west on a trip of a lifetime.  She has had the opportunity to present at conferences for the Michigan Science Teacher’s Association as well as the National Science Teachers Association.  She has helped write curriculum for all KPS chemistry courses as well as Environmental Science.  Mrs. Thomas loves camping, spending quality time with her family, and working on her next crochet projects.
